I don't know about you, but I sure love some warm hearty soup on a cold winters night! Making soup is such a great way to get a ton of vitamins and minerals! There are no rules when it comes to soup, and you can get very creative! For me sometimes it's as simple as throwing in a bunch of ingredients that I find in my fridge. I like to make it in the morning so when I come home from work I have an awesome already made meal!
Homemade, organic soup is a superfood in my opinion. Using organic and grass fed bones to make your stock is going to give you ten times more nutrients than if you buy it at the store! You can check out my prior post "My Top 8 Superfoods" on my blog page to find out more about bone broth!
Here are the ingredients I used to make my super soup:
- chicken stock (From a leftover chicken carcass already cooked down into broth. Great to have in the freezer handy!)
- fresh garlic (I love garlic, so I used a lot)
- green beans
- russian banana fingerling potatoes
- pink himalayan sea salt
(1 teaspoon is a good start, but you might want to add more)
- kelp noodles (make sure to rinse well and add when soup is almost ready)
**I put my crockpot on low for at least 6 hours. The longer the better!
Every ingredient in this soup is organic and I highly recommend it that way! You want a concentration of nutrients in your soup, not chemicals! As you can see I didn't really add measurements to my ingredients list. Making soup is fun because you can make it to your specific taste! I just eyeball it and decide weather I think I need more of another ingredient. I recommend starting out with small amounts and continuing to add ingredients as you go. I like to taste it after an hour or so and maybe add more spices as needed.
